Town Of Wayland: History: History [Digital Towpath]

Marion Scott served as Historian for both the Town and Village of Wayland for many years. She worked diligently to make people aware of the history around them. She had many articles featured in the Wayland Register and the Genesee Country Express. Marion held an avid interest in genaolgy and produced a number of books on area families.

Histories on the families listed below are held by the Town Historian in the files at the Town Hall and are available for reveiw by appointment. There are also copies available in the Library and at the Historical Society.

Historian The position of Historian is an annual appointment by the Town Board under Arts and Cultural Affairs Law, Article 57, Section 57.07. The historian's general job description encompasses four main areas. These areas include research and writing, teaching and public presentations, historic preservation and organization, advocacy and tourism promotion for the town. Where the historian places emphasis will be influenced by his/her personal interest and inclination, and reflect the priorities and interests of the appointing authority.

Historian
